Meet Cindy
A new diagnosis of osteoporosis or osteopenia can be scary. With osteoporosis/osteopenia, your bones are weaker and more at risk of breaking. This can happen when you’re exercising or even when you’re going about your daily activities. While there are definitely things you should adjust to keep your body safe, it is possible to learn new ways to move and set your body up for success. For example, when you work with me, you’ll learn how to 1) adjust your posture and alignment to be safe and supportive, 2) select exercises that build a strong foundation, and 3)avoid certain movements (like spine flexion) that can increase your risk of a fracture.
But don’t just take it from me.
Read what Cindy wants everyone who’s been through this diagnosis to know:
In my 70s, I got an unexpected diagnosis of osteopenia and osteoporosis along with a recommendation that I take up Pilates with an instructor “who knows how to modify the standard movements for someone with your condition.”
I did the research and found Ashley who is not only a Certified Pilates Instructor, but also a Physical Therapist. Through her careful guidance, I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for years!
Ashley’s coaching style is inspiring and encouraging. Her directions are crystal clear. And she uses all of the learning modes: she explains the moves verbally, she shows you the moves visually, and she helps you learn the right alignment by doing it yourself. She makes complex moves simple and easy.
I look forward to each session and leave refreshed and happy.
